A 28-year-old male choir member of a church in Dwarsloop was arrested for allegedly raping a 17-year-old fellow member.
The incident occurred on September 23 at the man’s residence.
The man briefly appeared at the Bushbuckridge Magistrate’s Court yesterday. He was remanded in custody. The matter was postponed to Friday for his bail application.

According to information at police disposal, the victim allegedly received a message from the man, requesting a meeting to discuss the church choir’s practice.
She then reportedly invited him to her residence, where upon arrival, the suspect found her preparing to go to the shopping complex, and offered to transport her there and back.
It is reported that on their way from the shopping complex the suspect started asking questions about her relationships while driving with her to his house. The suspect allegedly invited the victim into his house to discuss the practice, and allegedly raped her.
