Family of stabbed DUT student seeks answers

The first-year industrial engineering student from Masoyi sustained head injuries, and the family's spokesperson confirmed his condition was still critical but had stabilised. He, however, pleaded with the public to avoid spreading false stories on social media.

MASOYI – Mystery still surrounds the circumstances that led to the stabbing of Durban University of Technology (DUT) first year student, Sandile Ndlovu (18), who is lying in a Durban hospital after the gruesome incident.

It is alleged that on September 9, Ndlovu was in one of the lecture halls near the library when he was stabbed and taken to hospital in the evening. However, the campus seems not to be forthcoming with details surrounding the incident.

According to the family’s spokesperson, Tshepo Mokoena, not only does the family not know who reported the matter to the security company at the campus, but video footage has also not yet been released.

A case of attempted murder was opened and the campus also confirmed they were assisting the police with the investigations.

Mokoena mentioned in a tweet earlier today that Ndlovu is still critical but responding well.
