SAPS issue a warning on false job adverts

Legitimate vacant posts are advertised through the media, both print and electronic media houses.

The police provincial commissioner, Lt Gen Mondli Zuma, warns members of the public and jobseekers about a bogus job listing advertisement which indicates that there are vacant positions for internship opportunities within the police service.

The advertisement is circulating on social media platforms.

“Members of the public are therefore warned not to fall prey to such malicious scams, as there are no internship or learning programme posts available currently, nor has the province put out such an advertisement. Such adverts are misleading and malicious in nature and are usually intended to extort money from victim jobseekers.

The public is also urged to be vigilant and contact their nearest police stations for clarity to confirm the legitimacy of such adverts in future,” he said.

Zuma added that jobs at SAPS service are not for sale. He said legitimate vacant posts are advertised through the media, both print and electronic media houses, as well as the SAPS website.
Zuma categorically condemns this barbaric tendency of these unscrupulous individuals spreading false and misleading information with the intention to target unsuspecting victims.
