Kabokweni man gets 10 years in jail for burglary

Some of the stolen items were also found in his possession.

The Kabokweni Magistrate’s Court had sentenced a 27- year- old man to 10 years in prison for a series of burglary cases around Kabokweni.

Sibusiso Mkhize Msimango was sentenced on August 16. This comes after his arrest in connection with burglary cases in the area.
According to the court papers Msimango targeted houses when owners were out and at times he entered houses while the owners were sleeping. He stole electrical appliances including Tv sets and microwaves.

One of the devices he stole had a tracking device which led to his arrest.

Some of the stolen items were also found in his possession. He was also linked by forensic investigation to other six cases.

In passing sentence the court sentenced Msimango to four years imprisonment in four cases, the sentences run concurrently.

He was also given a further six years imprisonment for possession of suspected stolen property.
In all the cases he will serve an effective 10 years in prison.

The Pienaar police station commander Col Thulani Maphanga praised the investigating officers Dect/Sgt Sunday Msithini and Dect/Const Sindisiwe Nyaka for a sterling work in solving the cases.
