Woman remanded in court for allegedly kidnapping an infant in Cape Town

Investigations revealed that the baby was kidnapped at a hospital in the Western Cape by a female who allegedly pretended to be the relative of a 26-year-old mother who reportedly fell ill after giving birth.

Sheila Seba Graig (44), made a brief appearance at the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court today after she was arrested and charged for the alleged kidnapping of a 1-month old baby boy.

It is alleged that on Monday, August 12, the suspect arrived at the Nelspruit SAPS Community Service Centre with the baby and told officers she needed to complete an affidavit to enable her to adopt the child. When asked about the whereabouts of the biological mother, she reportedly presented a signed affidavit as if it was from the mother who is based in Bellville, Cape Town.
