Handful show up at #bringkhayaangelback march

They were told the march was cancelled at the last hour because the convenor of the march, Joseph Mashaba, didn’t meet some specific requirements to hold a march and had been advised to reapply for the march. Mashaba not among the marchers.

Only a few women dressed in black apparel attended the #bringkhanyaangelback march to the SABC today.

The marchers were blocked at the entrance of the City Centre by security guards who told Mpumalanga News that the centre’s management could not allow them access into the centre as they are not part of the strike.

Speaking to the handful marchers, they said they were very disappointed that the march was cancelled at the last hour, however, they will still support it if it will be called again in future.

“Some of us don’t know Khaya personally, but we are here to support another woman and we would want to see her returning to work and being able to provide for her family as most working women do. We feel like the country is very sexist because there are people in higher positions who have done wrong, but are not pinned down as Khaya has been pinned. She should have been given another chance or sent for wellness program to change her behaviour, not being fired just like that. If South Africa can stop being a sexist country, biased and manipulated by power and money, it can be a very harmonious country that we still wish to see and live in,” they said.
