#IMadeMyMark: ANC posters defaced in Mbombela

This comes after 28 political parties attended a Code of Conduct signing ceremony on Friday.

MBOMBELA – Two days after the signing of the Code of Conduct ceremony at Ingwenyama Lodge and Conference Centre campaigning posters of the African National Congress have been defaced and some taken down along Graniet Street in West Acres

According to the Independent Electoral Commission this act is prohibited.

“The Electoral Act contains an Electoral Code of Conduct aimed at promoting “conditions that are conducive to free and fair elections” and that create a climate of tolerance, free political campaigning, and open public debate.”

African National Congress provincial spokesperson, Sasekani Manzini expressed her disappointment stating that the matter will be reported to the IEC.

“Any party is allowed to use their campaign material anywhere. It’s very disappointing not see political intolerance which is wrong. There has been similar incidences in Emalahleniwhich were reported and we will do the same with this one,” said Manzini.

When Economic Freedom Fighter’s Collen Sedibe was contacted to enquire if his party had a similar incident, he sent an SMS saying he could not talk.

Democratic Alliance’s Sydney Masinga could also not be reached for comment.
