Models shine on catwalk

A locally based philanthropist, founder of Xiluva Xamama and 2018 Mrs Mpumalanga ambassador, Eulender Nanni continues to spread her wings in charity events in the City of Mbombela.

This weekend she is hosting the two-day “3rd Charitable Couture Fashion Show” at A Lounge on Friday and Saturday.

Both days will see 40 models from different areas across the province showcasing pieces from Nanni’s private collection, which includes outfits she has worn at previous events. Young ones will also showcase outfits from her daughter’s collection.

“Locals will be treated to a pre-show event on Friday which aims to show them that you can have an outfit that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg from your simple collection. I also aim to nurture models and grow their skills from a tender age. They will receive stipends from the ticket sales to motivate them to take modeling seriously and make a living from it,” she said.

Admission to the pre-show is R60, while tickets for the main event on Saturday range between R150 and R200 for VIP, including snacks and beverages. The main event will see local top designers; including Mafristos, Thobile of Mantosh Bridal, Zanox and others, showcasing their latest designs on stage. Sakhile Mkhonta from the Kingdom of Eswatini is also expected to showcase her best. “We need to promote our own local designers. If we don’t, who will? asked Eulender.

She holds no academic qualification in fashion, but was led into it by her passion for fashion and, being a make-up artist, loves fashion. She believes that one’s passion may be the ultimate route to financial independence. In 2018, she founded Xiluva Xamama (Mommy’s Flower), which is a non-profit organisation focusing on hosting events for charity. She will host the Poetry and Jazz Meets the Youngsters events and the Eat, Drink and Be Giving fundraising gala dinner later in the year.

“I just wanted to do something that will benefit our community. So I host events on my own, even without receiving financial support from my hubby. Attendees will be entertained through poetry recitals and music from local artists,” he further explained.

Tickets for both weekend events can be bought from any of the models.
