Stage 2 load shedding underway
Eskom is currently implementing Stage 2 load shedding which is expected to continue until 11 pm tonight.
Due to a shortage of capacity, Stage 2 load shedding got underway at 9 am on Friday.
“Eskom’s maintenance teams are working round the clock to return generation units to the electricity system,” said the power utility.
Friday’s rotational load shedding came down two notches from the Stage 4 load shedding South Africans have been experiencing.

Stage 1 calls for 1000MW, Stage 2 calls for 2000MW, Stage 3 calls for 3000MW, and Stage 4 calls for 4000MW to rotationally load shed nationally at a given period.
Eskom appealed to customers to switch off geysers during the day as well as all non-essential lighting and electricity appliances to assist in reducing demand while also reminding customers to treat all electrical points as live during load shedding.
