Gert Sibande District Municipality Mayor praises traditional leaders

The mayor was speaking during a traditional imbizo held at Rasplaas in Mkhondo municipality today, Saturday 16 March.

Gert Sibande District Municipality’s Mayor Cllr Muzi Chirwa has commended traditional leaders for a sterling role in the liberation of the country in 1912 and for working diligently with local, provincial and national government structures in bringing change to poor black communities for the past 25 years.

He said: “The people of South Africa have been oppressed for more than 340 years and within the 25 years of democratic rule, the ANC government has done significantly well and cannot accomplish damage of 340 years within 25 years. Working together with traditional leaders have had significant progress and we will continue working together.”
