Grannies and everyone who is above the age of 40 and having eye problems is invited to visit the Lions Club at Manzini Community Hall.

More than 200 grannies from Phola and the surrounding areas will this weekend receive free reading glasses, courtesy of the Nelspruit Lions Club.

“We invite grannies and everyone who is above the age of 40 and having eye problems to visit us at Manzini Community Hall from 09:00 on Saturday. They will receive free eye testing, screening and reading glasses,” explained Dr Abraham Varghese, the convener of Lions Eye Care Project.

He said this outreach programme is done in conjunction with the SA Medical Association and the SA National Council for the Blind. They will be available at the hall until 13:00 on the same day.
“Our motto is that where there is a need, the Lions Club will be there. That is why we identified this community with the help of the local councillors,” he added.
The Lions Club has been active worldwide for 102 years, and the local club is nearly 50 years old.
