EMALAHLENI – A couple was shot by three unknown men last Friday at the gate of their farm last Friday. The woman who was heavily pregnant was shot on her arm and back. According to the police the suspects were attempting to hijack their vehicle.
The couple and their three children were in their Toyota Hilux bakkie at Seekoeiwater Farm near the N4.
“The victim reportedly alighted from the vehicle to open the gate when the trio emerged from nowhere and shot him on the thigh. His wife tried to get on the driver’s seat of the vehicle but was also shot by the same suspect. She managed to get his husband back in the vehicle and drove away from the scene. The suspects fled the scene on foot. The couple was admitted at the hospital where she gave birth,” said the police.
Two counts of attempted murder and attempted carjacking case were opened. Police are appealing to anyone with information that may assist in tracing the suspects to contact Warrant Officer Paulus Masango at 072 178 3028, or the SAPS Crime Stop 08600 10111.
