Today marks three years since the Lily Mine tragedy
While there's a mining Indiba in Cape Town today, these families are still disheartened about the tragedy that stole their loved one's in 2016.
Today marks three years since three miners were trapped in the container at Lily Mine that plunged into a sinkhole in 2016. The bodies of Pretty Nkambule, Solomon Nyarenda and Yvonne Mnisi are still buried in the belly of the earth.
Trade union AMCU will hold a commemoration in Low’s creek, Barberton in remembrance of the three miners. AMCU tweeted that they demand safer working conditions in honour of Nkambule, Nyarenda and Mnisi. The families of the three are still seeking closure since the tragedy.
