#PleaseCallMeMovement: Nkosana Makate supporters vow to boycott Vodacom
MEC of Education in Gauteng Panyaza Lesufi is also part of the movement. Vodacom's legal team served him with documents alleging that he was defaming the company.
Protesters gathered at the Vodacom headquarters in Midrand this morning in support of Please Call Me inventor Nkosana Makate.
This comes after a long legal battle with the telecommunications company and Makate for reasonable compensation for Makate’s idea. The Constitutional Court ruled that both parties needed to agree on reasonable compensation three years ago. Recently Makate rejected the Vodacom’s offer describing it to be ridiculous and flawed.
Social media users weighed in on the battle that has been trending for since the beginning of the week. Some vowed to boycott the service provider should they not make the payment by today.
Bring it on @Vodacom ! I am NOT easily intimidated. You can’t bully me or silence my support to the weak and vulnerable. This is a democratic country and I have the right to express my views without fear. The apartheid regime detained me without trial . I am not scared! pic.twitter.com/E62GnxFiJ8

It's been 18 years since Nkosana Makate invented 'Please Call Me' and it's more than two years after the Constitutional Court ordered #Vodacom to pay him. Enough is Enough! #VodacomPayMakate#PleasecallMeMovement

I'm sure even Makate would settle for R20 million nyana because R70 billion could run a small country, it's just too much. He should be paid but come on. #PleasecallMeMovement #PleaseCallMe #VodaCom

Dear #Vodacom, you were the 1st to have #PleaseCallMe. You went on for a while with it before MTN had it (could've been years, I'm not sure). Now, why were you exclusively on the market with MTN's idea long before MTN? Just pay Nkosana Makate.#VodaPayHim#PleasecallMeMovement
