WARNING: Hitchhikers targeted by criminals on the N4

Some hitchhikers have identified a white VW Polo with no registration numbers used by the suspected robbers.

Hitchhikers are being targeted by criminals.

The Nelspruit Police Station has issued out a warning to the public about robberies that take place various hitch-hiking spots.

In a media statement it is reported that the suspects pick up hitchhikers from different spots and drive to a secluded area where they threaten victims with a knife or firearm before robbing them of their belongings.

Below, are the targeted hitchhiking spots:

N4 Road – Mataffin(en route to Emalahleni)

– Valencia Traffic lights

2. R40 Road – Turn off to University of Mpumalanga

– Traffic lights near Riverside Mall

– Cross road near Alroe Park (en route to Barberton)
