Gate motors theft increasing in White River

The residents must improve the security system of their houses and to ensure their outside beams are on to detect any movements.

Residents in White River are warned to be cautious about the security systems of their premises.

This comes after several cases of theft of gate motors were reported to the local police station recently.

“So far none of the houses were broken into after the theft of the gate motors. We are not yet sure as to what the criminals use them for. Police investigations are still continuing in this matter,” said Sgt Cynthia Mbokodo spokesperson of White River Police.

On a separate note, Mbokodo warns hikers to be extra vigilant. “We had five cases of robbery reported in October alone. This happened after people who hiked between Mbombela and White River were robbed of their belongings after being pointed with a firearm before reaching their destinations. We request the public to use public transport to avoid being victims,” she added.
