Provincial government launches the 16 Days of Activism Campaign

This year's campaign is themed, #HearMeToo- End Violence Against Women and Children.

Community Safety, Security and Liaison MEC,  Pat Ngomane  led the opening ceremony for the 16 Days of Activism for no Violence Against Women and Children in Zwelisha over the weekend.

During the campaign held at the community hall, a number of activities were conducted in a way of highlighting awareness around the abuse of women, children and people living with disabilities. Two houses,  were handed over to disadvantaged families as well as dignitary pads, school uniforms, school equipment and a wheelchair to one senior citizen amongst others.

MEC Ngomane urged the public to report any form of abusive to the police station and that women should not make children an excuse for them to stay in abusive relationships.

The ceremony was also supported by the department of Human Settlements, Health, Social Development, Correctional Services, Home Affairs, City of Mbombela and local traditional leadership as well as various community members.
