#BlackFriday: Five things not to buy

It's that time of the year when Black Friday creates excitement around social media, workplaces and just about everywhere. There will be plenty of deals but shoppers should beware of some items' prices on the day.

According to Dealnews.com, not every Black Friday offer is truly worthy of your cash.

Here are five things you should not consider buying:

Furniture

Furniture shops don’t usually have Black Friday deals. Rather wait until February when sales are slow.

Tablets and computers

When it comes to buying tablets, iPads, and computers, things get a little more complicated. Usually, the big deals on Black Friday are comprised of older, slower, basic models from the previous year. That does not mean it is faulty merchandise, but it won’t have all the bells and whistles as the newer models.  The best advice is to know what you are buying by doing your homework and reading reviews. Make sure there isn’t a good reason that the product did not sell the previous year.

Bedding

January is traditionally when stores have sales on linen, bedspreads, blankets, towels, and tablecloths get marked down. Discounts on the holiday lines usually begin two weeks before Christmas.

Games and toys

Parents looking for this year’s hottest toys are not going to find them on sale on Black Friday, or any time close to it. For toys that are not on the hottest list, the best deals will start to show up about two weeks before Christmas, not on Black Friday.

Jewellery

A few items may be advertised and there may be discounts on watches but the selection may be limited.
