Provincial Treasury employees calling for their HOD’s ousting

She does not have a clearance certificate.

This morning employees form the department of finance peacefully handed over a memorandum of demands to the acting premier, Mr Gillion Mashego at the provincial legislature calling for the removal of the head of department, Ms Nombedesho Nkwamba.

The employees, who are members of the National Health and Allied Workers Union (Nehawu), alleged that the process of vetting government employees was not done when Nkwamba was appointed to the post.

“The HOD does not have a clearance certificate, yet she is in a position of charging us. We wonder why she was not vetted as this is a key requirement for her position,” said Ms Nontsikelelo Gabela the chairperson of NEHAWU, Treasury branch.

In the memo and in their slogans they stated it clearly that they were no longer in favour of Nkwamba, adding that her management style was unbearable.

They also accuse her of misusing the government vehicles and demand for her immediate removal from the post. They also demand the recalling of two general managers who were transferred between 2015/16.

They also demand that disciplinary charges be effected against the HOD for abusing the government vehicle.

The marchers also indicated that they were not receiving full attention from the current MEC Eric Kholwane whom they say is more busy with economic development.

Receiving the memorandum, Mashego promised to elevate the demand to the relevant authorities and that they will be responded to within seven working days as per their demands. He also pleaded with the employees to go back to their working stations while their demands are being looked into.
