NELSPRUIT – The Provincial Commissioner of the police in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Mondli Zuma applauds the community and other stakeholders that are working closely with the police in the fight against the scourge of crime.
General Zuma indicated that creating a safe and secure environment for all people in South Africa is the primary responsibility of the South African Police Service. “In so doing, the police will continue to work tirelessly without fear, favour or prejudice in removing anything or person that threatens or endangers the lives of the community. This is evident from the number of firearms confiscated as well as suspects arrested,” said Zuma.

Police say some of these firearms were confiscated while the suspects were in the act of committing a crime as well as through other police operations.
“The recovery of one firearm has the potential of saving lives and contributes to decreasing violent crime, like trio and contact crime. The collaborative effort by all relevant stakeholders is the reason behind these good successes achieved thus far. We further urge people to assist police in making the country safe and secure by reporting any person in possession of a firearm unlawfully, including those who are negligent in handling their firearms”, said General Zuma.
