Pair sought for kidnapping

Police are in pursuit of two suspects who allegedly kidnapped a 17-year-old girl last week, in Mhluzi near Middelburg.

NELSPRUIT – The South African Police Services said that on the day in question, the girl allegedly left home to go and fetch her younger sister but never returned home.

“The matter was reported to the police wherein a missing person inquiry was then registered and a search instituted through the assistance of the family. The girl was found on Tuesday, 09 October 2018, at Extension 08 in Mhluzi after a thorough search,” said police spokesman Sgt Gerald Sedibe.

Information at police disposal, revealed that the victim was allegedly kidnapped by the suspects, who held her captive for two days.

Sedibe confirmed that a case of kidnapping was opened and no one has been arrested as yet. “Police urge any person with information that will bring closure to the matter to contact Detective Constable John Phoku at 072 216 7505 or call the SAPS Crime Stop number 08600 10111.” Sedibe said.
