ANC mourns death of parliamentarian

The African National Congress in Mpumalanga has learned with sadness of the passing of Ms Nokhaya Adelaide Mnisi, deployed as a Member of Parliament.

MBOMBELA – Mnisi, who hails from Gert Sibande Region, met her untimely death in the early hours of Tuesday after a short illness.

“The passing of this humble and dedicated leader leaves a huge void; not only to her family, relatives, friends and colleagues; but also to her beloved party, the African National Congress, the South African Communist Party and the Alliance at large, organizations to which she selflessly dedicated her life. The ANC is indeed thankful to her beloved family for sharing her with us and the people of South Africa.

“The ANC sends its deep and heartfelt condolences to the family, relatives, colleagues of Comrade Nokhanya. We commit to take from where she left, as we endeavour to bring about a “Better Life for All”, the people of our province and South Africa at large. The ANC will communicate further details after consultation with the family,” said provincial spokesperson, Ms Sasekani Manzini.

In a statement issued by the ANC Chief Whip’s office on Tuesday: “The Office of the ANC Chief Whip has learned with immense sadness about the passing of our ANC Member of Parliament in the National Assembly, comrade Nokhaya Adelaide Mnisi. Mnisi was deployed in parliament as an MP in 2014. Comrade Mnisi passed on earlier today after a short illness,” said Mthembu.

Mnisi served in the portfolio committee on Home Affairs at the time of her passing. “The Office of the ANC Chief Whip is in the process of liaising with the family regarding all the necessary arrangements. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friend, and comrades during this time of loss,” conclude Mthembu.
