Retraction and apology following I’Langa theft video

Mpumalanga News wrongly identified the suspect in the video showing two women stealing a phone

On September 10, 2018, Mpumalanga News published a report on its website titled “WATCH: Women caught on camera stealing at I’Langa Mall store.” The story stated that two women were captured on camera in the mall’s MUD studio while stealing a cell phone.
The women reportedly got into a grey Nissan Juke and left the scene. The publication, after referring to a Facebook allegation on the vehicle’s ownership, reported that the vehicle belonged to Lerato Modisane from Kempton Park. This was, however, untrue. Modisane was not involved in the incident at all.
Mpumalanga News retracts the statement and apologises for any harm caused.
