CONFEF educates you on how to manage your finances better

CONFEF is certain that consumers will be empowered to make informed financial decisions.

With so many people drowning in debt, the Consumer Financial Education Foundation (CONFEF), registration number 192-529NPO, is your key to financial independence.

The organisation focuses on consumer financial education. This is in line with the preamble of the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, which states that apartheid and discriminatory laws of the past have burdened South Africans with unacceptably high levels of poverty, illiteracy and other forms of social and economic inequality.

“We empower, protect and promote consumers rights.
“Our main objective is to provide financial education to consumers using various innovative plans, such as human element behaviour change that would allow for dialogue interaction,” explains Ms Octavia Hlatshwayo and Ms Rhoda Mthembu, founding members

CONFEF aims to provide financial education to consumers of goods and services, thus empowering them to make informed financial decisions as well as equip them with their consumer rights and protection from legislation.

The organisation also empowers consumers to have information on financial services and products, equips consumers with their rights, responsibilities and protection, promotes a culture of savings and provides budgeting advice.
Through these approaches, CONFEF is certain that consumers will be empowered to make informed financial decisions, thus improving their financial well-being while contributing positively to the socio-economic challenges facing our society.

CONFEF is committed to make a difference in financial wellbeing of consumers as well as empowering them to make informed financial decisions. However, CONFEF requires partnership with stakeholders that will provide financial support and sponsorships in driving effective financial educational campaigns that will have significant impact. This initiative will also contribute positively to the socio-economic development as envisaged by the National Credit Act 34 of 2005.

As part of celebrating Women’s Month, founders of CONFEF celebrated Women’s Day by bringing together women in business, professionals and those aspiring to start businesses.
The theme of the day was “Walk to Boost Financial Confidence”.

The event was held at Bundu Lodge. “It is through events like these that we aim to discuss various financial matters and obligations such as black tax, budgeting, hindrances with funding accessibility, as well as various financial products and services,” adds Hlatshwayo.
