Gert Sibande district municipality mourns the passing of former executive mayor
Gert Sibande District Municipality (GSDM) has received with sadness the news of the passing of its former Executive Mayor Mishack Nhlabathi.
Nhlabathi joined GSDM in 2011 as a Member of Mayoral Committee leading one of the Section 80 portfolio committee for the 2011- 2016 term of office. It was in year 2012 that he was appointed as Executive Mayor until he retired at the end of the term.
The district municipality said in a statement that Nhlabathi will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to the government of the ANC, his zeal to see Gert Sibande becoming a well-developed municipality, his wisdom and his humour.
“Just like an old fine wine, his age was reflected in his wisdom and character. For this, Gert Sibande held him in high regard and he will always be regarded precious. We send our deepest condolences to his wife, his children and his entire family during this difficult time.,” reads the statement.
