The most recent incident was reported in Naas, after a baby was found on the floor of a toilet in Naas Clinic. The woman reportedly gave birth to the baby girl in the cubicle and fled, leaving the baby behind. She was taken to Tonga Hospital.

In the last two instances, cases of child abandonment were opened at Tonga SAPS.

According to Capt Magonseni Nkosi of Tonga SAPS, the two baby girls are currently doing well.

Police encouraged pregnant women to use the available facilities and reach out for help if they feel that they cannot raise their children. They urged men to take full responsibility of their children.
