ANC condemns the burning of public schools in the province

We call upon communities to remain calm and to use established channels to air their grievances.

“The ANC condemns with strongest terms this destruction of property and calls upon law enforcement agencies to work around the clock to find and bring to book the perpetrators of these unfortunate crimes. They must face the full might of the law,” said Sasekani Manzini, the provincial ANC spokesperson.

“These are barbaric and cowardice acts which have no place or space in a democracy. Even at the height of apartheid oppression, people never took kind to burning school infrastructure because they understood the importance of such institutions for the progress of a nation. There is no justifiable reason that can lead people to destroy the very infrastructure meant for the future of their own children,” she added.

“In this regard, we call upon communities to be the first line of defence of their hard-earned public infrastructure which is a treasure for future generations. We call upon communities to remain calm and to use established channels to air their grievances. We all must take a stand that regardless of frustrations or pain, it is not permissible to burn down public infrastructure,” Manzini concluded.
