“Poaching is perpetrated by foreigners” – Hosi Theo Mnisi

According to, Hosi Theo Mnisi, of the Mnisi Traditional Council, poaching along Manyeleti Game reserve and the KNP is purported to be orchestrated by foreign nationals because South Africans are scared of wild animals.

Poaching along Manyeleti Game reserve and the Kruger National Park is purported to be orchestrated by foreign nationals from Zimbabwe and Mozambique because South African nationals are scared of wild animals.

This was said by Hosi Theo Mnisi of the Mnisi Traditional Council on Thursday – bordering both the Kruger National Park and Manyeleti Game Reserve. He was speaking during the official opening of the Manyeleti Game Reserve’s Visitor Centre, Caravan and Campsite that is expected to attract more visitors, especially locally to utilise the entertainment venue that comprises of swimming pools, braai stands, ablutions and tuck shops that will be operated by the local community.

“We’ve got no industries and gold mines here in Bushbuckridge, but we have wildlife which is more often being reduced by rampant poaching orchestrated by foreigners from Zimbabwe and Mozambique. Our citizens are scared of wildlife, hence I’m earnestly requesting them to preserve them because out of them, we’re able to attract tourists to the area. Our only problem here is leopards which recently attacked our livestock. a lion also escaped and an elephant killed a person.

“That calls for the hiring of more rangers to man our game reserves so that the community and tourists can enjoy the amenities on offer here and grow our economy and created the much-needed jobs,” said Mnisi.
