Two suspects found guilty of cable theft

The accused were found guilty under the Criminal Matters Amendment Act 18 of 2015 and sentenced to three years imprisonment

Eskom is happy to report the successful prosecution of two thieves who were found guilty of theft of an underground cable at Eskom College Substation, Kaalfontein in Midrand early in January 2018.
The two were convicted last week Monday after investigations led to their arrest and the recovery of the stolen cable.

“Eskom is most pleased with the outcome of the trial and hope the conviction sends a stern warning to deter any would be electricity network thieves from such costly acts of criminality,” reads a media statement from Eskom.
