Invitation 2018/19 Mpumalanga livestock development programme

The Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs (DARDLEA), invites interested emergingf armers in the Mpumalanga Province to apply for participating in the Masibuyele Esibayeni Programme.

REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must be from previously disadvantaged group residing in Mpumalanga Province. The basic requirement for participating in the Programme is that sufficient land for the livestock that is being applied for should be available to accommodate livestock numbers at the recommended rate.

For Pig’s project the farm must have pig stye. Applicants must be in possession of certified proof indicating ownership, lease rights or land use right for the duration of at least five years.

For Dairy Cattle Project, the farm must have feed storage and established pastures.

The farm must also have milking parlor, animal handling facilities to separate living  space for calves.
Applications should be accompanied by certified copies of ID, application form, proof of farm ownership, short project profile and utilization history of the farm.

Infrastructure such as fencing, water troughs, loading zone etc. will be an added advantage.

Successful applicant will receive the following animals:

Goats: 1 buck and 25 does or
Sheep: 1 ram and 25 ewes or
Pigs: 1 boar and 10 sows or
Dairy: 1 stud bull and 50 heifers
Beef cattle ratio: 1 bull and 25 heifers

The Department has planned to support 15 successful projects/farms in the province with small stock.

SELECTION PROCESS
The selection process will include short-listing of potential beneficiaries, on site visits by the Technical Committee to conduct farms assessments for verification of information provided by applicants.

EXCLUSION CRITERIA
Government officials are excluded from participation in this programme. Application forms may be accessed from all the Agricultural Municipal Offices or District offices of DARDLEA.

NB: The completed applications forms, project profiles and all required documents should be returned / submitted to the local DARDLEA Agricultural Municipal Offices to be signed off by the Agricultural Municipal Manager.
