Three killed after taxi overturns on the N4

The driver was apparently disturbed by an animal crossing the road.

Three people were killed when a taxi overturned on the N4 near Alzu Petroport between  Middleburg and Belfast last night.

Mr Joseph Mabuza, spokesperson for the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison said the trio were killed on the spot, while one passenger was seriously injured and three others were slightly injured.

“The driver was apparently disturbed by an animal crossing the road and he lost control of the vehicle, ”said Mabuza.
He adds that the taxi was coming from Middelburg and destined for Mozambique.

The accident happened at 21:45. Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.
