MBOMBELA – The ANC in the province is stable and gaining momentum on good governance, despite a scramble for power by a number of candidates.
This was explained by the acting provincial chairperson, Mr Mandla Ndlovu, during an interview with Mpumalanga News this week.
Ndlovu said it is not surprising that people are going around parading themselves as candidates. “When preparing for the 54th ANC national conference that was held in Nasrec last year, there were quite a number of candidates who had already nominated themselves. You cannot attend a church service and accept nominations from congregants. People should stop nominating themselves and wait for proper processes. The office of the secretary general has appointed a team to audit memberships of branches in the province,” he said.
He also stated that it will be at the provincial general council (PGC) that candidates will be informed of their nominations by the Electoral Commission of South Africa.
“Everything will be revealed at the PGC and it will be the time for candidates to either accept or decline the nominations. For now, I am focusing on the structures and branches of the ANC, reminding them that they should nominate without fear and consider nominating candidates who conform to the party’s doctrine, ‘The Eye of the Needle.’ There is peace and stability in the province,” ended Ndlovu.
