Transport arrangements to Mama Winnie’s funeral announced

The buses will leave on Friday and she will be laid to rest on April 14 at Fourways Memorial Park Cemetery.

MBOMBELA – The provincial ANC has organised 19 buses for Winnie Madikizela-Mandela’s funeral. The buses will leave on Friday and she will be laid to rest on April 14 at Fourways Memorial Park Cemetery.

This was announced during a memorial service held in honour of the mother of the nation by Ehlanzeni District Municipality on Thursday.
Six buses will leave from Mbombela, five from Nkomazi area, four from Bushbuckridge and Thaba Chweu Municipality.

“Not everyone will be able to go and you need to visit your branch to find who will be going. The buses in Bohlabela district will live at 19:00 and the ones in Mbombela will live at 20:00.” said Mr Renias Khumalo.
The official memorial service was held on Wednesday at Orlando Stadium.

Various political parties attended the event and they all celebrated her life.
Mr Cyril Chuene from EFF said she was the only one who was not ashamed to meet the leadership of EFF. “She is not called the mother of the nation because she was elected; she served her country without being given a position.”

Ms Trudie Grove-Morgan from DA said Madikizela-Mandela stood for all the women and not only for a specific party. “This why we saw the need to attend her memorial service.”
Mr Terror Shabangu from the ANC said the country has lost a giant and the world has lost an icon. “She was a mother to the poor and to the rich. She was not scared to talk and she was willing to make sure the ANC lives.”

Mr German Mashile from Bushbuckridge Residents Association said Madikizela-Mandela was a true fighter. “She was brave and courageous.”
