Kholwane heads investment team to Dubai

The MEC for Finance, Economic Development and Tourism, Mr Sikhumbuzo Kholwane left today to attend the eighth annual investment meeting in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The three-day gathering of international investors community will be held at Dubai World Trade Centre.

Kholwane is accompanied by the acting Head of Department, Ms Sindisiwe Xulu and government officials who are responsible for industry development and investment promotion in the Province.

The Provincial Government is currently involved in multi-year catalytic projects which require significant amount of resources (capital investment) such as the Mpumalanga International Fresh Produce Market and Special Economic Zone in Nkomazi amongst others.

Kholwane emphasized that restoring the confidence of the domestic and foreign investors in the provincial economy remains a critical game changer for the province.

“The new dawn lies in the renewed opportunity to achieve faster and more inclusive growth to create jobs for our people and a better life for all our people. It is therefore important for government to do everything possible to boost investor confidence and attract the much needed foreign direct investment to the province”, said Kholwane.

“These projects requires the provincial government to partner with like-minded business both at local and international levels if we are to achieve the highest level of investment in the provincial economy,” further said Kholwane.

The Provincial Government is attending the investment meeting on invitation from the Under Secretary of Trade and Industry, HE Abdulla Al Saleh.
