Let’s guard against exit looting – Mantashe

ANC national chairperson, Mr Gwede Mantashe has cautioned the country against what he termed “exit looting” by outgoing officials.

He was speaking during the ANC’s 106th birthday celebrations held at Lukwatini stadium on Saturday.

He said in part: “We’ve been given a task during the national conference to renew the organisation and secondly, it is to improve the integrity of the ANC. We have also been tasked to confront corruption and state capture.

“There is nothing as painful as when entering any public place or gathering and people would be muttering: here are the ANC thieves. That’s about the credibility of the ANC and that creates a trust division between the people and the

“ANC because few comrades that actually loot, leave that cleavage upon all of us. As it is now that there is a change of leadership, I’ve noticed it that there is exit looting of resources. There is the wrong perception that comrades want to steal more before they are replaced is It is our duty to fight it because that money belongs to government in order to serve the people.

“We must be exemplary in our endeavours and take the ANC to the people like we did here. We brought it to the people, which is semi-rural. It’s not a city, but there are people here. We must unite our people and also unify all our alliance partners in order to succeed as a government and movement,” he ended.
