Few hours left for ‘izinyoka’ to normalise electricity, or face the law

Eskom will engage in an intensive operation to identify all those who are still using electricity illegally and they will face the law.

If you have tampered with your electricity meters, connected electricity in any irregular manner or used illegal pre-paid vouchers you have 48-hours to normalize it or you face the law.

February 9 is the last day to report and from February 10, Eskom will engage in an intensive operation.

“When this date lapses, we will engage in an intensive operation to identify all those who are still using electricity illegally and they will face the full might of the law, which includes disconnection of electricity supply, the full payment of the tamper fine and disconnection fee, as well as possible imprisonment,” Richard Shiba, Eskom’s Marketing Operations Manager in Mpumalanga.

If you go before deadline you have the opportunity to have the electricity supply normalised without having to pay the full tamper fine and re-connection fee.
