MEC Vusi Shongwe survives crash

The accident happened when the driver of a taxi allegedly turned and drove onto the oncoming traffic lane and the two vehicles collided head-on.

MEC Vusi Shongwe survived a road crash that occurred at about 00:30 in Mbombela on the R40 Road near the SABC building.

Shongwe who is responsible for the department of agriculture, rural development, land and environmental affairs was driving south bound from the White River direction when the driver of a taxi allegedly turned and drove onto the oncoming traffic lane and the two vehicles collided head-on.

The driver of the taxi who was the only occupant in the vehicle was immediately transported to hospital while MEC Shongwe later visited Medic Clinic for a check up.

Mr Pat Ngomane, MEC for community safety, security and liaison wishes the injured a speedy recovery.
