Suspects in court for possession of dagga and copper cables

This follows after an intelligence-driven operation conducted by various police units within the Tonga cluster.

In two separate incidents a total of nine suspects, two women and seven men, were arrested on December 29 for possession of dagga and copper cables.
The suspects appeared in the Nkomazi Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

The first to be nabbed were two women and five men between the ages of 18 and 37.

They were in possession of copper cables at Langeloop trust, in Tonga.

Princess Nkosi (18), Philatwa Matsaba (19), Faruki Chauke (20), Sizwe Ntiwane (37), Lucky Silombo (29), Sandile Manyani (34) as well as Jumayeli Shongwe (27) were remanded in custody for further investigation and will appear again at the same court on Friday for an official bail application.

Conversely police arrested two suspects aged 36 and 37 at Block C while carrying out a routine police operation, they were in possession of dagga weighing 57,77 kg.

The suspects Themba Kubhayi (37) and Vincent Ngomane (36) were from Block C en route to Mbombela when police intercepted them and found the dagga in their vehicle – a silver grey Volkswagen Jetta.
They were given a R1 500 bail each and will reappear at the same court on Monday January 8.
