MTPA supports family of tourists involved in accident

One of the two Singapore sisters died on the spot when the car they were travelling in was involved in an accident on the N4 between Alzu and Wonderfontein on December 20.

The Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA) is working hard in making sure that necessary care is provided for the family of a Singapore tourist who died during a head-on collision on the N4 during the festive holidays.

“On behalf of the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency, we would like to convey our sincere heartfelt condolences to the family. We pray that the Almighty grants them strength during this difficult period. We are also praying for a speedy recovery of one of the sisters who survived the accident and is currently in a critical condition in hospital,” said Mr Xolani Mthethwa, head of tourism at MTPA.

One of the two Singapore sisters died on the spot. The other victim was rushed MediMed in Middelburg where she had undergone two operations.

The Middleburg SAPS is currently investigating the incident and has been working with the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency to ensure that the necessary after care support is provided to the family while they are in the province

“We continue to work with other various support structures to ensure that the family receives the necessary assistance to get the relevant documentation,” said Mthethwa.

“We remain committed to ensure that we provide the necessary after care support to tourists when such incidents occur. It is important that tourists feel that they are not alone but they are being taken care of”, explained Mthethwa.
