New laundry service provider to construct laundry for Rob Ferreira hospital appointed

The contractor will start with the construction work today (14 December 2017) and is expected to complete the project on 14 of March 2018.

The long awaited construction of a new laundry in Rob Ferreira Hospital will now start.

This is after the Mpumalanga Department of Public Works, Roads and Transport which is responsible for all government buildings appointed a contractor for the construction of the new laundry.

Ncence Engineering Solutions have been given the task to construct the new laundry at an amount of R2 258 888.64.
The laundry will be constructed at the basement of the old nurses’ home in the hospital.

The Department has already bought all the necessary equipment for the laundry.

Three washing machines, two dryers and one roller iron have already been bought and delivered. Whilst the construction is underway, the hospital will continue to wash its laundry at Barberton hospital.

MEC for Health in Mpumalanga, Gillion Mashego has expressed his excitement over the construction. Mashego says this will put some relief to other hospitals that have been assisting Rob Ferreira with its laundry.

“I am very happy that the Department of Public Works, Roads and Transport has finally appointed a contractor. We have faith in the contractor to finish as per the date set and he has also committed that he will do diligent work and finish on time.”

Rob Ferreira has also made contingency plans for the Festive Season. The hospital has purchased disposable linen that will be utilised in case there problems are encountered with linen.
