Get ready for a bigger Cultural Xperience in 2019

The Department of Culture, Sport and Recreation, say Thank You, Baie Dankie, Siyabonga, Siyathokoza, Re a leboga, Re a Leboha, Ha khensa, and Ro livhuwa to the people of the province and artists, for making this year’s Mpumalanga Cultural Xperience a huge success.

We thank the Mpumalanga House of Traditional Leaders, under the leadership of Inkosi Ngomane, for partnering with the Department.

We had an exciting weekend from the 30th of November until the 2nd of December during the festival and the curtain of the Mpumalanga Cultural Xperience fell with the hosting and crowning of best artists in the gospel genre during the Annual Mpumalanga Gospel Awards.

Prepare yourself for a bigger Cultural Xperience in 2019, from 29th November to 8th December.

Soul Xperience at the Botanical Garden on Sunday was filled with soothing sounds and melodies from the salesman of love, Musa Sukwene, Karabo Mogane, Afrotraction and Mafikizolo, who serenaded the crowd with their sultry voices and delivered first-class performances. This is what went down well with the crowd.

The fifth Mpumalanga Gospel Music Awards also took place at the fully packed AGS Communio Church

“I thank you all for this award which belongs to Jesus Himself because He is the One whom we sing about as artists. My request to all of you is that we pray for artists. They are seriously being attacked and we bury them each and every week,” he said. “Winners received trophies, two-night stays at Ndalo Hotel and cash for their sterling work,” said Sandile Ngobe, founder of the awards.

Sylvester Nkosi received awards for being the best newcomers. Mpumalanga Praise received awards for best gospel group and the song of the year with their trending ‘Izofela emafini iphethe imichele izowachelisa amachawe’. Alcy Tivane won the best traditional gospel song, Nkabinde Brothers won best gospel DVD, while Mxolisi Mbethe received the award for the classic of all times. Past Anderson Matsane won the best collaboration album and Ian Calf won the best songwriter category. Donny Ngwenyama received an award for the best music video. Thandeka Gee walked away with a prize for the best female artist.

The best Amajericho song went to Sqomqom nebuhle beJericho gospel choir, while Minister Khutso Maseko won as the best male artist award. The best gospel single was won by Gershom Ntimane, the best national male artist by Bheki M, and the best national Amazion was won by Amashalambombo. Tricia Selala was honoured for the best ZCC album. Thina Zungu won the best national artist category, Minister Lombard Matshinge won the best trending song category, while Mthandeni Phoswa won in the best Itende song category.
