Mob justice claims two lives

Two men died in hospital on Monday after being assaulted by community members in Masoyi, near Hazyview.

According to the police, two men allegedly robbed a foreign national shop owner. The owner was robbed at gunpoint of cash, two cellphones and cigarettes. After the incident, members of the community followed the suspects to Chaweni, near KaBokweni and took them back to Masoyi. They allegedly beat them up and burned their car.

The men were rescued by a policeman and taken to hospital, where they later died.
The provincial commissioner, Lt Gen Mondli Zuma has warned and discouraged community members not to take the law into their own hands.
No arrests have been made but cases of armed robbery and murder have been opened.
