Teenage girl killed on the R40-Msholozi junction
Police have opened a case of culpable homicide against the truck driver.
MBOMBELA -A 13-year-old learner was killed on the spot after being hit by a truck at the notorious R40-Msholozi junction yesterday.
According to witnesses, the Cyril Clark learner was crossing the road to hike to Mbombela when she was knocked down. The incident happened around 07:50.
“According to the truck driver, the learner jumped into the road while the truck was already close. He couldn’t stop the truck to avoid the accident. The truck only came to a standstill at about 50 metres from the scene of the accident,” explained Col Mary Ngomane
.

Police have opened a case of culpable homicide against the truck driver.
This accident marks the third fatal accident since the beginning of the year. A man was killed on June 28 only a couple of months after another pedestrian who was coming from White River was killed just after buying himself a roasted crop of maize meal from hawkers on the other side of the road.
