11 killed in accidents, scores more injured

A total of 11 people died on the Mpumalanga roads last weekend.

MBOMBELA – Seven people died during a crash involving two Sedans on Sunday. The accident occurred on the N4 at Paardeplaats near Belfast.
A Mercedes-Benz was travelling from Belfast towards Middelburg while a Kia was travelling in the opposite direction. There were five people in the Mercedes including the driver and two occupants in the other vehicle. All the occupants were killed on impact.

 

 
On the same road authorities responded to a second crash where four vehicles and a taxi collided. One person died and 13 were injured.

In another incident three people died when a Golf 7 lost control and hit a three on the R536 from Hazyview to the Kruger National Park near Hoxani on Saturday. The driver of the Golf is reported to be a traffic officer from Bushbuckridge Local Municipality.
As we are approaching the festive season, the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison spokesman, Joseph Mabuza, urged motorists to be vigilant when driving on the roads.
