The minister of tourism, Ms Tokozile Xasa unveiled a new public participation category for the Lilizela Tourism Awards 2018.

The people’s choice category called the ‘We Do Tourism Award’ will be decided by a public vote.
“We are looking for everyday tourism heroes, everyday tourism champions from all walks of life – those wonderful, hard-working individuals who walk among us and are not necessarily in leadership position.
“The winner will be decided by the public votes. The public will nominate the dynamic individuals who they believe deserve to be recognised for their contributing to making South Africa more welcoming,” said Xasa.
Mpumalanga received five awards from the recently held Lilizela Awards held at Sandton Convention on October 29.
The winners includes the Blue Jay Lodge, Elephant Plains Game Lodge, the Kruger Park Lodge, Jackalberry Ridge and Inyati Game Lodge
.
The Lilizela Tourism Awards were established in 2013 to recognise and reward exemplary service among businesses in the local tourism sector, ranging from accommodation establishments and tour operators to scenic attractions and cultural heritage sites.
