Matric learners can still apply with UMP until October 31

The university looks forward to admitting 1 200 first-year students for 2018.

Vice-chancellor of the University of Mpumalanga (UMP), Prof Thoko Mayekiso has urged the matrics to work hard to achieve their dreams of furthering their studies at higher institutes.

Mayekiso explained that the university looks forward to admitting 1 200 first-year students for 2018.

“The grade 12 learners should study hard to meet the university’s entrance requirements.
We urge them to send their applications now as our closing date will be by the end of October. We believe the learners can do it, and they should also believe in themselves,” Mayekiso said.

The closing date for bachelor of education (foundation phase) was in September; more than 2 000 applications were received, with only 100 spots available at UMP.

University aspirants can apply for diplomas in plant production, information and communication technology, nature conservation, hospitality management, BSc in agriculture, BA in developmental studies, and an advanced diploma in agriculture.

New courses to be introduced in 2018 include BCom and an advanced diploma in hospitality management.
