Zuma reshuffles his cabinet – Blade Nzimande out

David Mahlobo makes way for the only new addition to cabinet‚ Advocate Bongani Bongo. This is the second cabinet reshuffle this year.

Six ministers were reshuffled this morning by president Jacob Zuma. South African Communist Party secretary general Blade Nzimande has been axed.

The cabinet was reshuffled as follows:

1 Professor Hlengiwe Mkhize is the Minister of Higher Education and Training
2 Ms Ayanda Dlodlo is the Minister of Home Affairs
3 Ms Mmamaloko Kubayi is the Minister of Communications
4 Mr David Mahlobo is the Minister of Energy
5 Adv. Bongani Thomas Bongo is the Minister of State Security
6 Mr Buti Manamela is the Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training.

In March, Zuma fired five ministers, including then finance minister Pravin Gordhan and his deputy, Mcebisi Jonas. They were replaced by former home affairs minister Malusi Gigaba and Sifiso Buthelezi, respectively, while Fikile Mbalula was given the position of police minister.

Nzimande said he did not know anything about the reshuffle:
