Kruger National Park urge visitors to be vigilant of malaria

'Tourists can consult with our doctors for information and advice prior to their visit to the park or even if they see symptoms of the diseases while still on the visit'

MBOMBELA – Management of the Kruger National Park has urged visitors to take necessary precautionary measures against malaria before visiting the park.

“To reduce the risk of getting malaria while staying in the park, visitors are advised to use repellents on their skin, wear long-sleeved clothes if they happen to go outside their residences, keep the window and doors closed at all times and check that these are not broken,” advises the KNP’s spokesperson, Mr William Mabasa.


He also urged all visitors who have contracted malaria after visiting the KNP to quickly report this to them, “Such information can assist us in identifying all the affected areas within the park,” he said.

Mabasa indicated that the park has medical doctors permanently based in Skukuza. “Tourists can consult with our doctors for information and advice prior to their visit to the park or even if they see symptoms of the diseases while still on the visit,” he adds.
