Alleged cop killer appears in court

During the investigation by the police it was revealed that the vehicle used to kill the officer belonged to his wife.

A 23-year-old man suspected of killing a police officer recently appeared in the Tonga Magistrate’s Court.

It is alleged that Mduduzi Ndlovu knocked over the victim with a car and fled the scene.

“The deceased was jogging with his wife when the incident happened on July 13.

“The suspect had been in hiding ever since the day of the incident. On Thursday September 28 he handed himself over to the police,” said SAPS spokesperson‚ Brig Leonard Hlathi.

“During the investigation by the police it was revealed that the vehicle used to kill the officer belonged to his wife.
“How Ndlovu managed to get the vehicle remains a subject of a wide police investigation,” he said.

The case was postponed to October 12.
“The suspect was remanded in custody and he will appear in the same court,” said Hlathi.
