Meet Musa Mahlangu the king of Morabaraba in Mpumalanga

Team Mpumalanga is represented by a total of  113 players. 

Passion for the game is written in his face Musa Mahlangu is adamant to lift  Mpumalanga flag high.

He is currently representing the province at the 2017 indigenous games that are underway in Limpopo. There are various sporting codes such as dibeke, diketo, dri stokkies, intonga, khokho and incuba.

Mahlangu said his father taught him how to play Morabaraba. “I started playing in 1996. I never thought that one day I would represent my province. My dream came true in 2014 when I was selected to compete at district level. Later that year I also competed at nationals. Ever since I started playing he has never lost a game.”

His plan is to get a gold medal.“I wish indigenous games can be played on a regular basis in our respective areas,” he said.

Mahlangu is optimistic that indigenous games can play a vital role in promoting social cohesion.

“It can also assist youngsters to avoid substance abuse.”
